Men's Fashion - The Three Looks to Acquire
When it comes to men's fashion, there are generally three types of looks that a guy is going to need to know how to pull off. The threesome of fashion looks include daytime, casual, and the 'hot night out.' All of these looks can be had by any regular guy, as long as they keep in mind a few easy pointers.
Time to make it work at work: The suit.
No one can deny the importance and appeal of a good fitting suit. Professional, put together, and one of the key staples to just about any man's wardrobe, the suit is a classic mainstay of fashion. One of the keys to wearing that suit is to make sure that it fits like it is supposed to. That is not likely to happen by grabbing it off of the hanger at the store, taking it home in the bag, and throwing it on at 7 am before you jump in the carpool on the way to the office. One word here men, tailor. If it seems like an unneeded expense, think again. With a classic cut, and tailored styling, that suit can take a guy all the way to the top.
Kicking it and relaxed casual: The jeans.
When the times comes to enjoy the weekend, one look that looks hot all year round is a good pair of jeans. The way a man wears his jeans can say a lot about him as well. Not to tight, and not hanging so low as to trip him as he walks is a good way to begin finding the right fit. And while finding the right pair of jeans can be just like finding the perfect woman, be prepared that someday it will end. While the worn look may be in, gaping holes are not. When it is time for them to go, you just have to let them go...
Styling and profiling at the club: The bling.
Though there are plenty of guys out there trying to keep up with what they see in music videos and on the stars in Hollywood, be careful of the bling. When attempting to pull off the hot look with a new date, a guy shouldn't be outshining her. But without enough sparkle, he may just fade away. A good rule of thumb is to keep it simple, and low key. A nice set of cufflinks, a small silver buckle on the belt, or a half-carrot on the ear are all ways that a guy can add a bit of taste to his look without outshining the stars.
Men's Sunglass Trends
Some trends come and go. Others stick around for a while. And some become a part of our cultural landscape. When considering a pair of sunglasses that are right for you, ignore the trends and ignore the hype. The right sunglasses for you, aren’t necessarily right for the next fellow. And vice versa. You get it.
Let’s explore some of the classic styles for men. Aviator inspired shades have been a popular style of glasses for men for generations. In recent times, they have become more of a fashion accessory than a practical item. But nonetheless, these glasses are as slick as they are functional. They come is various shapes, tints, and sizes and there is certainly a pair out there for you.
Aviators are a definitely a safe bet in men’s sunglasses. Another style that has made a comeback in recent times is the big-and-bold sunglasses. You know the ones. Think Big! These glasses could even be considered the offspring of the Aviators, just bigger and bolder! With the resurgence of everything 70’s, these glasses epitomize the extravagance and excitement of the time.
As they say, everything old is new again! Another style of sunglasses that is still popular is the wrap-around style. This style has been around for a quite a few years now, popularized by all your favorite rock stars and movie stars. Again, these are available in many shapes and colors.
For a better idea of what you are shopping for, trip down to your local sunglass shop and have a look around. Here are some guidelines to help in your quest for the perfect sunglasses. For those of you with oval shaped faces, most any style will suit you. Rectangular frames are ideal for those with round faces, and oval or round frames are best for those with square shaped faces.
But sunglasses are not just about style. Try to find a balance of style and function. You will also want to have lenses with good UV protection. And consider some form of lens protection for scratch resistance. What are you looking at?

Cool Armani Sunglasses
Armani Sunglasses are one of the recent trends in the eyewear business. Giorgio Armani is a leading Italian designer, and the sterling quality of merchandise under the brand name has been known for many decades. Creating a new generation of eyewear with its high-end, unmistakable touch, Giorgio Armani has transformed these accessories into an element of style. A true trendsetter, Armani sunglasses will impress and will give you a fashionable and trendy look all the time, with any tasteful outfit.
Armani sunglasses have recently been part of fashion transitions. The sleek, classic rims of these must-have accessories have always been popular with the young and old alike. Prices on the average start from around $100 and take off from there depending on the make, style and frames.
Armani sunglasses come in various shades and styles, each perfectly designed for unique individuals with diverse tastes. From hip, casual and trendy to elegant, poised and cool, these designs are sure to accentuate the shape of your face and frame your eyes wonderfully.
While extreme lightness is often one of the general themes of Armani sunglasses, the pureness of the forms, which are now more oval, is the main feature, accentuated by diverse colors of the frames. The colors are echoed in the lenses, which further emphasize the shades and more refined tones of the season's accessories. A skillful, blending sharpness of contours and technology in this year's Armani sunglasses transforms precision into elegance. Armani sunglasses are also proof that fashion and stylishness can keep up with the times without sacrificing comfort.
How Armani sunglasses keep up with technology is expressed not only in the use of ultra-light and hard-wearing materials such as Genium, but also in the lenses which are no longer mere filters but are made in photo-chromatic crystal. The blinker-style Armani sunglasses have lightweight frames and leather insets sewn into the sides; these special frames, more connected with the leather-working tradition, can be found in the exclusive Armani boutiques.
Indeed, all the features that the fashion-savvy individual could possibly look for can be found in this year's Armani sunglasses designs. From lightweight, to aviator, to classic metal rims, Armani has successfully revolutionized sunglasses, turning them into high points of accessories and not just mere lenses and light filters. Gone are the days when you can only whip out a pair of sunglasses when you're at the beach. At thispoint, you'll wear your Armani sunglasses anywhere, anytime, because they are the perfect partners for your eyes.
Fashion critics have praised these year's Armani's sunglasses, as they are even more chic and subtly refined as the previous ones. If you're considering buying a pair of these sunglasses, make sure to pick ones that frame your faces perfectly and clearly reflects your lifestyle. Also make sure to match your Armani sunglasses with the outfits that you wear most of the time. Whether you opt for metal or plastic ones, you absolutely can't go wrong with Armani sunglasses.

Ray Ban Style

Ray-Ban was founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb after lieutenant John MacCready asked them to make a pair of sunglasses that would not only protect his eyes from the damaging effects of the sun but also look good. Today, they are the world's best selling sunglasses.
Pilots in the United States Air Force began to wear the sunglasses and when General Douglas strode on to a beach in the Philippines in World War II wearing Ray-Ban, the sunglasses became a massive hit back home in the USA. Since then, Ray-Ban Sunglasses have been worn in hundreds of Hollywood films and remains a favorite among celebrities.
Ray-Ban is a leading brand of high quality eye-wear and combines great styling with quality and comfort. A clean cut design and high quality materials ensure that Ray-Ban sunglasses are the most popular sunglasses on the planet.
Rayban Style
The two most famous sunglasses style in the world are the Aviator and Wayfarer. They also happen to Ray-Ban.
The name of the Aviator sunglasses arose because of the oblique teardrop shape of the lens. Naval aviators found that the oversized sunglasses would help to hide the white skin under their eyes caused by wearing goggles during flying. The bar across the nose also held a cigarette in place.
The glasses are designed to cover the entire eye and to stop sunlight from reaching the eye from between the glasses and the face.
The first sunglasses design to use plastic, the Wayfarer was a radical new look. They were invested in 1952 by Raymond Stegeman for Baush and Lomb.
Originally marketed to pilots, they were quickly found to be popular among female Hollywood stars, such as Kim Novak and Marilyn Munroe. Audrey Hepburn wore a pair of Wayfarers in the movie, "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

Men's Fashion 2008
Spring 2008 arrives with the subtle glamour and elegance of old Hollywood, and a classic all-American stylish look for weekend wear. I've highlighted for you my top ten trends for the season for both work and casual. Men of any age will definitely find a few stylish new items to try for spring to look modern and handsome, whatever their lifestyle calls for this season.
1). Work Wear
This season you will find a refined style in men's tailored clothing. The suit of the season will be a glen plaid print in shades of gray. Tan suits and sport coats in a tropical weight or linen fabric will be moving to center stage as we transition into warmer weather. I always love a lighter color sport coat with a silk blend for those dressier occasions. You can't go wrong with a basic Navy blazer this season to look nautical and spring forward with a dash of style. Pair your refined suit or sport coat with a luxury dress shirt made out of pima cotton to look sophisticated and elegant. The tie of the season is taking on a romantic feel with lots of botanical flower prints, offering you a new alternative to your solids and stripes.
2). Modern Blazers
For a casual Friday or a weekend look, consider purchasing the new lightweight and un-constructed blazer which is comfortable and adds a touch of style to casual pants or jeans. This season the modern blazer will be seen with appliqués on the back and down the front. Cargo blazers with big pockets that button will have a casual feel. This season, coordinate your un-constructed blazer over a new graphic knit or a pinstripe woven, for a more formal look for those casual workdays.
3). Opposites Attract
Try a multi-vertical striped shirt this season with it's sleeves rolled back to show the new contrasting pattern in the cuff. You will see many printed shirts with contrasting collars or cuffs, showing two different patterns or colors, but coordinated to look very modern. This kind of shirt would look very stylish worn with dark denim, to add some color and print to the ensemble.
4). Shorts, Shorts And More Shorts
The season arrives with shorts in a variety of styles. The newest looks of the spring will be cargo, flat front chino's, and Bermuda plaid shorts with a belt. All of these shorts will come in great washed neutrals and the new plaids. You will see menswear-inspired patterns with metal hardware details that demand some attention. Wear these shorts with a graphic tee or a novelty woven. For swimwear or shorts to wear on the beach, try the new board shorts in plaid and floral prints.
5). New Wovens
In spring 2008 the woven shirt takes on a whole new look. You will find military inspired patches and appliqués on the shirts, as well as tonal embroidery everywhere, from the front and back to the cuffs. You will find short sleeve woven shirts with graphic details on the back of the shirt, and lots of prints available for that modern look. If you love plaid and various types of prints, you will find this new styling for the classic woven refreshing. Try one of the new washed woven shirts worn with plaid shorts to create a new look.
6). Graphic Pockets
Denim is a great way to express your style on casual days. It's comfortable, and this season denim will be full of graphic details. You will find detailing and embroidery on the curved back pockets to add some style and create a great exit pant. The new Ed Hardy jean even has his signature in large print on the derrière. These new jeans look great when worn with a woven shirt that includes subtle graphics.
7). Sitting on the Dock Of The Bay
This season the shoe of choice is the casual boat shoe. This looks great when worn with shorts, jeans or khaki's for those weekend occasions. Extremely casual, classic and comfortable they are making a big return for spring/summer 2008. You can't go wrong with the classic Sperry Top-Sider but boat shoes will also be the focus for many updated shoe vendors. Wear this boat shoe with the classic polo and great flat front chino shorts for an all-American weekend look.
8). Classic Whites
When warmer weather approaches, men like a change of pace in lighter tones. You will find the fresh white color returning in linen pants, shorts, jeans, knits, silk shirts and casual blazers; great to wear on a warm weather vacation or a casual evening out. Get out of your drab dark winter colors and have your wardrobe be versatile and stylish for all seasons.
9). Top Gun Style
Every man loves great sunglasses that are indicative of his personal style, while protecting his eyes from the summer sun. This season it is all about aviator sunglasses. They are modern and come in a variety of styles from numerous vendors. Find a pair that works with your face size and shape. This is a must-have accessory item for all men this season.

Hair Care for Men
There are mens' hairstyles & haircuts that can make more youthful, nerdy, rugged or masculine, intelligent & sexy. Men need their hair trimmed more often than women do. Natural healthy hair can be maintained by providing your hair with sufficient vitamins and nutrients through a variety of shampoos. Chemicals help in opening your hair shaft. Ammonia-free formulas also exist, but studies have shown that they're harmful. After showering, you can see instant drying of your hair. Avoid pull-through caps that can cause damage of color overlap. Major color changes cause major harm. So it's better to leave those things to the pros. Men normally have a shower or wash their hair on a daily basis but very few actually use shampoo or conditioners. Hair root and hair follicles generally become lose with age. As a result, the hair strands become lose and fall.
Hair is very sensitive. It needs proper care, otherwise it starts shedding in great amount. Almost every day you lose 50 to 100 hairs. It is a normal part of the hair shedding. Hair is not a living part of your body. Frizzy and dry hair can benefit from the application of silicone based products. Bear in mind that a little goes a long way and concentrate the product on the ends of your hair. The wrong hair brush or the wrong technique may tear your hair. They're hairs broken because of using wrong hairbrush or wrong technique. Bristles play a major role to prevent hair breakage. Blow-drying, curling and flat-ironing can cause the lifting up of the hair's outer layer, cuticle. It releases moisture and leaves your shafts brittle. A right conditioner helps to restore shine and also mask split ends. Apply a conditioner to dry roots. Wet your hair and shampoo. Then rinse and condition again.
Men Hair Care Tips
1. Don't be cheap about the styling products.
2. Get regular haircuts and trims from your trusted barber.
3. Massage your scalp with your fingertips or the pads of your fingers--not with your fingernails.
4. Use Hair Product Sparingly.
5. Use a Cap to Dry Hair.
6..Wash your Hair the Night Before to Achieve a Better Bed-head Style.
7. Hair gel is used on the hair.

Men's Casual In An Office

The definition of casual of course depends on just how dressy the office is to begin with. At some business offices slacks and sport shirts are the status quo. So the idea of going more casual seems somewhat silly.
However, by the same token, a business that generally expects suits and ties has not (from what I've been able to see) been particularly comfortable with employees showing up in jeans and t shirts.
Casual in a business situation has actually gotten a little dressier. Perhaps the suit and tie are given a rest occasionally, but they can be replaced with sport coats, dress trousers, and turtlenecks all made from good fabrics (wool, silk or luxurious man made fibers). Casual should never be sloppy or unkempt. There are a lot of great shirts, pants, and jackets available that can be combined into wonderful looks.
Also, men's suits are so great now that I think a lot of men like to wear them. The new fabric combinations and lines are flattering and very handsome.
And, after all, it really isn't that hard to put on a suit, particularly if you know you look good when you're wearing it. I wish I could be more definite about men's casual. But frankly it's so individual right now and so specific to particular work environments that it's impossible to offer rules. But no man ever hurt himself by dressing well.
I have always felt that a man who wants to get up the corporate ladder should always dress for the job he wants, not the job he has.
I think that you might be best sticking to the autumnal colors, which are very fashionable right now. Certainly browns or not-too-bright yellows would seem to be very good, given the description you provided. You could try to introduce an element of mid- to light green (the color of leaves, not fluorescent paint!!) and some beige to lighten this us somewhat, and also keep it seasonal as summer approaches (I presume you are in the northern hemisphere). Stay away from black, however.
Not that it would look bad, but for casual clothing it just rings too much of formality. For a change try wearing (light) blues and grays together, they should work reasonably well. One word of warning: avoid wearing grey with brown - it doesn't always work.
As regards clothing styles, there are several to choose from which could apply to your situation. Try wearing slacks, button-down shirts and sports jackets for a classy, sophisticated look, or instead wear t-shirts (v-necked is popular right now) or polo shirts for an more casual style.
Turtlenecks are fine too, but they are WARM. Does one really need something that cozy in a centrally-heated or air conditioned office? Certainly there is nothing 'wrong' with putting them together with, say, slacks or the really currently popular five-pocket pants, but one must also be practical!
It may help to show off your "athletic appearance" and really looks great too. You can either try it with sports jackets or the enormous, incredibly diverse range of excellent knitwear that is out there to go with it.

Men's Style - 10 Must Have in Your Closet
If you want to avoid the inevitable "what do I wear" crisis, it's important to have ten key pieces in your closet.
You may need to spend a little extra on a few of these items, but you'll always be prepared for that surprise event. Here are the ten key pieces no man can do without.
1. Designed jeans - Every man should have at least one pair of designed jeans. They don't have to be trendy or strange, just nice pair of good looking jeans that make you look good.
2. Button down shirt - This is an essential wardrobe piece that can be dressed up or down. Pick a color that will give you the most options, such as white or light blue. Remember, a dressier fabric is easier to dress down than a rumpled cotton shirt is to dress up.
3. Leather belt - Even if you despise belts, they can really pull a whole outfit together. Look for one with simple hardware that's not too flashy. Pick a color that matches your dressiest shoes or that will go with most of your wardrobe. Black is always an excellent choice.
4. A nice suit - Even if you don't think you'll ever need to wear a suit, it doesn't hurt to have one on hand. Whether it's a surprise wedding reception or a fancy date, you'll be all ready to go. Expect to pay $1500 to $2000 for a nice suit, but it should last you at least ten years. Go for a classic cut in either navy or black to get more wear out of it.
5. Dress slacks - There are times when jeans are too little and a suit is too much. A classic pair of dress slacks always solves this problem. Whether you want to look nice for a date or you need to impress the boss, dress slacks are essential. Get a pair in a neutral color that will go with everything.
6. Dress shoes - There's no point in getting all these dressy items if you have a lousy pair of boots to go with them. Get at least one pair of nice dress shoes, preferably in black. Stay away from wingtips and stick with a classic shoe that will give you the most wear.
7. Leather bomber jacket - There is nothing like a bomber jacket. Dressed up or dressed down, they always work.
8. Nice overcoat - For the times when you just can't get by with a bomber jacket, you'll need a nice dress coat. For colder climates, get one is a nice wool. You can get away with a nice fabric trench coat if you live in warmer areas.
9. Designed t-shirt - You should have at least one solid color designer t-shirt in your wardrobe. This is the shirt that can go with jeans, slacks and everything in between. The fabric should be very high quality and it should be fitted in shape.
10. Sunglasses - The right pair of sunglasses will complete an outfit. Look for a classic aviator style that will go well with everything.

Men's Accessories - 2008 Tips And Trends

Several new trends are becoming very hot for 2008. Men's accessories are usually overlooked, but men are quickly catching on. Here's what is hot right now:
Scarves - With just a few cold months left in the year, there is still time to pick up a great scarf. Look for the comfortable Kashmir or cotton wool scarves in neutral tones. Gray has made a huge comeback as well and works with several colors. If you have one main coat, look for a scarf that will coordinate with it. Otherwise, feel free to get a little bold and daring if you want to show your wild side. Scarves should be about 60 to 70 inches in length. Make sure you avoid ones that are too long or too short.
Leather Accessories - A nice leather neck rope or bracelet is very popular right now. Combining leather with stainless steel is also quite hot and presents a nicely polished finish. For necklaces, go with a thinner style to avoid having it look like a dog collar. For bracelets, look for multi-strand leather bands that incorporate tribal or other interesting designs. Black is the most popular color, but you can mix it up with cream or brown to keep it interesting.
Stainless Steel Jewelry - These are incredibly popular this year. Look for a nice stainless steel cuff bracelet or a pendant that can be worn in several different ways. These are signature pieces that you can wear everyday and are even suitable for most workplaces.
Bold Pendants - Bold silver pendants are definitely hot items right now. Pair them with a nice chain or a leather cord for a polished look. Cross and spear pendants are particularly hot right now, but any bold shape that incorporates an interesting design will work as well.
Cuffs and Armbands - Bold cuff like bracelets and armbands are very big this year. Look for metals or if you are feeling really bold, go with a nice big leather cuff. Armbands are a bit smaller and should be worn on the upper arms. This is a great way to really define your upper arm muscles.
Hats - Trucker hats are dead and gone, but a simple ball cap is still very in, look for ripped edges and embroidered. Camo and washed colors are very hot right now. Try to avoid a hat that is too flashy or strange and stick with neutral colors that will coordinate with just about everything. Make sure you have enough hats to wear to avoid the dreaded "dirty hat" look.
Messenger Bags - This is a continuing trend, but we are seeing more use of leathers and other bold fabrics. Look for the hand crafted and vintage. Popular designs include faded or distressed brown leather or suede.

Latest Technology In Sunglasses & Goggles
When it comes to protecting your eyes during activities, there are some new technologies you should be aware of. Here is an overview:
Lense Technology
That latest technology in lenses includes Xtreme Lens Technology, polarized Multi-Layer Filtration and polycarbonate lenses. Xtreme Lens Technology is a new technology that works to block glare but without changing the perception of colors. The lenses are coated with multi-colored flash mirror coating to reflect light for complete anti-glare protection. The Xtreme Lens Technology, or XLT, offers the wearer a smoke grey view from the inside.
Polarized Multi-Layer Filtration technology lenses are made from one piece of distortion free, ophthalic quality polycarbonate. The key to this technology is that there are no laminates included to degrade the polarization. With Multi-Layer Filtration, or MLF, the lenses block vertically reflected light and glare by aligning the crystalline structure of the lenses. This makes lenses that use MLF technology an excellent option for use during any water sports activities or around water, for snow and snow related activities as well as for driving, whether a vehicle or motorcycle.
The latest technology in polycarbonate lenses offers the advantage of being shatterproof, as well as optically correct allowing for zero distortion. Polycarbonate lenses are excellent for use in just about any lighting condition. Polycarbonate was developed by GE, and is a form of LEXAN, which is also used for bullet resistant glass in vehicles. Polycarbonate is an extremely hard material and a diamond grinding wheel must be used to cut it. One advantage of polycarbonate is that it offers natural UV protection, which allows you to have full UV protection even if you're using clear polycarbonate lenses. In addition, polycarbonate is extremely durable and resistant to breaking or shattering. It's also lightweight and very scratch resistant. Polycarbonate offers such durable and reliable eye protection, that it is the only type of lens approved and used for use by law enforcement and fire departments.
Lens Coating Technology
Different colors of lens coatings offer different advantages. For instance, grey, grey-green and smoke colored lenses are excellent for blocking glare without changing your perception of colors. Brownish and amber colored lenses are good for blocking blue light or diffusing light that is common on cloudy or overcast days. Amber colored lenses are a great option for areas with fast changing weather, since they can improve your contrast and depth perception in many different kinds of weather. Yellow tinted lenses are great for cloudy or overcast days as well, the yellow tint will help with contrast and enhance your visual acuity or the feeling of visual acuity. Clear lenses are a good option for eye protection against glare at night or during low light conditions.
Frames Technology
The latest technology in frames is called CSF, or Composite Shock Frames, which creates a low mass, low inertia frame that should bounce or move much less during sports activities. The composite material is also very lightweight, comfortable and rugged, allowing for extended use while remaining comfortable.
Lens Systems
The latest lens systems include the X Changeable Lens System, which includes multiple lenses for different conditions and activities that can be interchanged as needed.

Primary Benefits of Sunglasses
Science has come a long way in correcting vision gone bad. Corneal transplants help a blind person see again. Laser treatment can restore your eyesight to 20/20 or better in mere minutes. Even with all this technology, wouldn't it be easier to take care of your eyes from the start? By simply wearing good sunglasses, you will reduce your need for these scientific breakthroughs later in life.
The sun creates ultraviolet light rays which contribute to the heat it produces. These rays, called UVA and UVB can cause irreparable damage to your retina and corneas. If you've ever watched an eclipse, you know you had to do so through a pinhole in a shoebox. This is because staring directly to the sun can cause great damage to your eyes. Unfortunately, many people are unknowingly allowing their eyes to suffer the same fate by simply choosing not to wear sunglasses.
Such disorders as cataracts, macular degeneration, and even skin cancer around the eyes can be signs of sun damage and can be prevented in part by the use of sunglasses. Cataracts are an eye condition that involves clouding of the lens behind the Iris and Pupil. Although no one truly knows what causes cataracts, studies have shown links between this condition and increased exposure to ultraviolet light. Though we do not know 100% that this is the cause, it has been determined that people who habitually wear sunglasses have seen a decreased incidence of this eye disorder.
Macular degeneration causes those who suffer from it to have difficulty seeing in detail. Often even faces are hard for these people to distinguish. This disease, like cataracts, is most prevalent in elderly patients. However, also like cataracts, prolonged exposure to sunlight without the protection of sunglasses has been included as a probable cause. Individuals who practice care in selecting sunglasses with 99%-100% UV protection stand a greater chance at avoiding this fate.
Think about the last time that you spent all day in the sun and were really badly sunburned. You probably took cold baths and slathered yourself in Aloe Vera. It is a painful condition to be in when this happens to your skin. Now, imagine what that same sunlight that gave you second degree burns on your skin is doing to your eyes when you choose not to protect them with proper sunglasses. That alone should be motivation to hit the sunglass kiosk at the mall.
You don't often think of sunglasses as something that will protect your skin. In reality, a good pair of sunglasses can save your face in more ways than one. Increased exposure to sunlight can cause skin cancer and will attach the most sensitive areas first. How much more sensitive can you get then the skin around your eyes. Sunglasses can reduce the risk of skin cancer in the eyelids and areas around your eyes.
Another benefit your skin will enjoy from a good pair of sunglasses is a decreased appearance of lines around the eyes. Simply logic tells us that distorting the face in certain ways on a regular basis can cause premature wrinkles and increase the signs of aging. When you do not wear sunglasses, you tend to squint, as your eyes are uncomfortable being opened under bright light. Sunglasses can actually help reduce the appearance of crow's feet by allowing your facial muscles to remain relaxed.
Your eyes are one of your most valued features. Can you imagine waking up tomorrow and not being able to see? Many people are born blind and would give anything for the eyes you take for granted every day. A good pair of sunglasses will protect you against a world of eye disorders and pain. If you don't protect this valuable possession, before you know it, it could be gone.
Designer Sunglasses
Stars like Donald Trump and Britney Spears have their own name brand sunglasses on the market while others may be wearing Marc Jacobs or Armani sunglasses for a classy look or Baby Phat for punk style. The mood for the day might be for the retro 1950's look of Fossil sunglasses.
Your favorite clothing designer may also be the designer of the sunglasses that you choose to accessorize your brand-name clothing. For instance, the smart Tommy dresser can add to the look of a Tommy Hilfiger clothing ensemble with Tommy Hilfiger sunglasses. For casual wear, Kate Spade sunglasses might do nicely. Carrera is known for a sporty look. For a sensual mood, Valentino frames that have smooth round edges and Swarovsky crystals might just put you (or whoever is looking at you) in the mood.
Trendy, cool-looking name-brand or designer sunglasses, if you can afford them, are a status symbol showing everyone that you have the cash (or credit card) to buy them. However, in order to be fashionable in sunglasses, you do not have to give up quality. Sunglasses, not being just fashionable accessories, are used to protect your eyes from damage caused by the sun's UV (ultra-violet) rays. Designer prescription sunglasses can improve vision, and reduce eyestrain, just like ordinary glasses.
Quality designer sunglasses can be polarized to reduce the glare of the sunlight reflecting off surfaces like the highway, cars, water or snow. Polarized sunglasses work by blocking off the horizontal light reflections and only let in vertical light reflections. The polarization of designer sunglasses makes them fashionable in other areas of lifestyle like golfing, boating, biking, swimming, fishing and aircraft flying.
Marketers of designer sunglasses target children who enjoy the same hot styles and brand-names as their parents and their idols. Sunglasses for children have Disney and cartoon characters in many colors, shapes and styles. Children's designer sunglasses can also be polarized to block the harmful UV radiation. Sunglasses should be part of children's daily wear as they play outside and engage in outdoor sports and activities. Sunglasses can prevent them from the long-term affects of sun damage to their eyes.
When most people grab a pair of sunglasses, they are only thinking about shading their eyes or looking cool. Sunglasses in any shade, shape or size, by any name may be a "hot" fashion accessory for trend-setting stars, men, women and children, but the importance of protecting the eyes from damage far outweighs the importance of looking cool. The next time you head out in the sunshine, be sure to grab your designer polarized sunglasses and give some thought to the fact that you and your sunglasses are protecting your eyes and your eye sight. Seeing is cool.
All About Sunglasses
Sunglasses in some form have been around for a very long time. Roman Emperor Nero made sunglasses by watching gladiator competitions through polished light emerald green gems held up to his eyes. The true invention of sunglasses was somewhere between 1268 and 1289.
Before 1430, smoky quartz, flat-paned sunglasses were worn by Judges in the Courts of China to conceal any expression in their eyes. Prescription sunglasses were developed in Italy in 1430 and were later used by the Chinese Judges. In the mid 18th Century, James Ayscough developed blue and green corrective lenses, beginning the use of sunglasses for correcting optical impairments.
Until 1730 when Edward Scarlett invented hardened sidepieces, there were problems in keeping eyeglasses propped on the nose. Glasses frames had been made from leather, bones and metal and sidepieces began as silk strips of ribbon that looped around the ears. Instead of loops, the Chinese added ceramic weights to the ends of the ribbons. Benjamen Franklin's invention of bifocal lenses followed in 1780.
By the 20th Century, sunglasses were used to protect the eyes from the sun. In 1929 Sam Foster's "Foster Grants" were the first mass-produced sunglasses and they began the trend of sunglasses for fashion.
In the 1930's the Army Air Corps asked Bausch & Lomb to develop sunglasses that would efficiently reduce high-altitude sun glare for pilots and they came up with dark green tinted sunglasses that absorbed light through the yellow spectrum.
Edward H. Land had invented the Polaroid filter and by 1936 he used it in making sunglasses and soon, sunglasses became "cool." Movies stars began wearing sunglasses to hide behind and for fashion. Aviator glasses became popular with the movie stars and the general public in 1937 after Ray Ban developed the anti-glare sunglasses using polarization. The longer lens was created to give more protection to pilots' eyes from light reflecting off their control panels.
By the 1970's Hollywood stars and fashion designers made a huge impact on the sunglasses market. Clothing designers and stars put their names on glasses and sunglasses and everyone had to have them. In 2007, stars are still hiding behind their oversized designer sunglasses, making fashion statements and protecting their eyes from the harmful effects of the Ultra Violet radiation.
Today's trendy designer sunglasses are a status symbol; however, in order to be fashionable in sunglasses, you do not have to give up quality. Quality designer sunglasses can be polarized to reduce the glare of sunlight reflecting off surfaces like the highway, cars, water or snow. Polarized sunglasses work by blocking off horizontal light reflections and only let in vertical light reflections. The polarization of designer sunglasses makes them fashionable in other areas of lifestyle like golfing, boating, biking, swimming, fishing and aircraft flying.
Marketers of designer sunglasses target children who choose the same hot styles and brand-names as their parents and their idols. Sunglasses for children have Disney and cartoon characters in many colors, shapes and styles. Children's designer sunglasses can also be polarized to block the harmful UV radiation.
With modern technology and improvements, the making of sunglasses continues to evolve. We have gone from holding green gems up to our eyes to Oakley's 2004 sunglasses with digital audio players built in.

Where to Find Good Sunglasses
Logically, one of the best places to buy sunglasses would be a retailer specifying in them. Any mall or outlet strip center is bound to have at least one store targeting eyewear. These stores will offer a wide variety of frames, lenses, sizes and styles to suit your needs. Sunglasses at these stores can be pricey, anywhere from twenty-five to three hundred dollars. However, you often get what you pay for.
Specialized sunglass retailers will know a lot about their product and help pick out the right ones for you. Many of their glasses will offer higher percentage of UVA and UVB protection than less expensive brands. If you don't mind paying the extra money, these sunglasses will be a purchase that will last. In addition, most of these retailers include a case, cleaning cloth and other accessories along with your purchase.
Upscale designers such as Armani and Christian Dior cater to the truly fortunate crowd. Their sunglasses can be seen in fashion magazines and on red carpets all over the globe. If it's high fashion you seek, these designers and many others are truly the way to go. Most of their products can be found in department stores. However, in more upscale neighborhoods, designers may have their own storefront.
If you're not a movie star or hotel heiress, you may want to take a more low-key approach when shopping for sunglasses. Many malls have kiosks that sell designer-looking styles at a much more realistic price. There is really no shame in wearing knock-offs, even if your friends tease you for it. You can casually remind them that your sunglasses look exactly like theirs. Then let them know that, unlike them, you'll be making your car payment this month.
If you are a normal human being, you probably have a tendency to lose things. That is where the truly inexpensive sunglasses come in handy. These less expensive shades can be found at any retail chain superstore. You can also find them at your local grocery store or pharmacy. Less expensive shades may not offer the same great protection as the expensive ones, but they will usually help to filter out the UVA and UVB rays.
When shopping for sunglasses, no matter where you look, there is one important thing to remember. Choose sunglasses that fit. They should fit your face, your style, and your budget. Before you spend a week's paycheck on a pair of sunglasses, you might want to consider their use. If it is a trendy style that is bound to go out in five minutes, head to the kiosk for some knock-offs. If you are planning to wear them somewhere they'll be easily lost, like the lake or camping, opt for the much less expensive. The last thing you want to be doing is playing diving-for-sunglasses while everyone is having fun.
If you do drop some serious cash on a pair of sunglasses, learn to take care of them. Carry a case for them to be in when not being worn. Clean them only with a specialized lens cloth. Finally, keep up with them! Sunglasses do no good if you can't find them.
This Season's Sunglasses

For men and women's sunglasses this year, bigger is definitely better. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have flaunted their flair for the oversized frames for the past few years, and it looks like the trend has finally taken hold. Oversized sunglasses, paying homage to the late, great Jackie O, appear to be here to stay. However, fashion gurus will warn you not to go overboard with this idea. If the sunglasses appear to be swallowing your face, you might want to take it down a notch.
Particularly in the moment of the oversized framed sunglasses, women appear to be having fun with their colors. No longer is the Jackie O a plain black frame with dark black lenses. Today's are Onassis Glasses with an attitude. Fashion icons can be seen sporting oversized frames in red, green, purple, and other bright colors. However, white frames also seem to be a favorite.
One retroactive style of sunglasses that is back again is no longer exclusive to men. While guys love this look too, Aviators are striking a feminine note this year.
Particular varieties of wraparound sunglasses are geared toward either men or women by changing up the style, color, and size. Women are leaning toward larger styles, as with the oversized craze discussed earlier. Men's wraparound sunglasses this season are all about sleek and simple design. Most designers have abandoned the flowing, rounded look of original wraparounds for a more box like effect. As with women's wraparounds, the lens continues to the sides of the head. Black seems to be the most popular color in these men's sunglasses, which completes the chic, classy look you want your man to have.
This summer welcomes old styles of sunglasses with new attitude. Check the red carpets and runways for the latest developments and to make sure they style you're sporting didn't go out of style yesterday, how embarrassing! Just remember that all the celebrities in the world can't dictate what looks good on you, so pick your sunglasses based on what you like, not them.
Sunglasses are "Hot!"
As an attention-getting accessory or fashion statement, designer or custom sunglasses are nothing new. Trendsetters like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and Elton John sported designer and custom sunglasses as part of their "look" or star status. Some have worn sunglasses to hide behind, cover their drug-affected eyes, or make a statement. Pictures of Elvis Presley reveal that he had sunglasses custom-made for him with his initials or the letters TCB (Taking Care of Business) built right into the nose bridge.
Stars like Sophia Loren, Donald Trump, and Britney Spears have their own name brand sunglasses on the market while others may be wearing Marc Jacobs or Armani sunglasses for a classy look or Baby Phat for punk style. The mood for the day might be for the blast-to-the-past 1950's look of Fossil sunglasses.
The same clothing designer may also be the designer of the sunglasses that you choose to accessorize your brand-name clothing.
Sunglasses in any shade, shape or size, by any name may be a "hot" fashion item for trend-setting stars, men, women and children, but the importance of protecting the eyes from damage far outweighs the importance of looking cool.
